Women’s or men’s city bike: choose the fit that works

Choose your everyday bike by access, comfort and your route. Understand Ring Ring’s two frame options and what to check at collection.

Choose the bike that is easy to get on and comfortable to ride. “Women's” and “men's” are the two labels in Ring Ring's booking form. They do not restrict who can use either bike.

Frame style is only a starting point

A lower frame can be convenient if you frequently get on and off. A higher top tube can also work if you are comfortable with it and have room when standing over the bike. Assess the actual bicycle; the label does not tell you everything.

At Ring Ring you select women's or men's. You are not reserving a specific model, colour or gearing arrangement. Tell us if a feature is essential so we can investigate before you visit a shop.

Height helps, but does not guarantee fit

Your height helps a shop prepare. It does not replace a short trial ride. People of similar height may prefer different saddle and handlebar settings.

The height field is optional. If easy access or handlebar reach matters particularly, describe the practical need. You do not have to share medical details in the form to ask for a frame that is easy to step onto.

Try the actions you will do every day

  1. Get on and off while stationary somewhere safe.
  2. Practise starting and stopping calmly.
  3. Check that you can reach and operate the brakes comfortably.
  4. Take a short ride and ask for adjustments if the position feels wrong.
  5. Show your everyday bag or explain what you expect to carry.

Resolve anything that feels unsafe before taking the bike away. There is no single sizing formula that replaces this check.

Include your route in the decision

Mention hills, train travel or stairs where you will need to lift the bike. These details tell us more than selecting a bike from a photograph. The Aarhus guide includes planning around your own route rather than assuming every commute is similar.

What comes with it?

Ring Ring's standard includes a lock, brakes, lights, reflectors and a bell. The bikes are used and may have scratches and different appearances. Site images are AI illustrations of the concept, not catalogue photographs of the bike you will receive.

The Danish Road Safety Council explains required bicycle equipment. Also read our subscription and bike standard.
