Plan cycling in Aarhus around your actual home and destination building. “Aarhus University” or “the city centre” is too vague for a useful daily route. The same applies to choosing a convenient place to have a bike serviced.
Try both directions
Aarhus has terrain you can feel on a bike. An easy ride towards the centre may feel quite different on the way home. Use a trial ride to decide whether the gearing suits you and whether you want to cycle the entire distance daily.
Try the route when you are not rushing. Note unfamiliar junctions and stop somewhere safe before checking directions. VisitAarhus provides maps to help you get oriented. Follow current signs as you ride; a map does not rule out roadworks that day.
Home, teaching and servicing may be in different places
Use the precise teaching address in your route planner. If your week involves several buildings, compare the journeys you actually make. A shop near home may be easier to reach on a day off, while one on your commute may be more convenient during opening hours.

Combining a bike with the Letbane
Midttrafik says ordinary bikes can travel free on the Letbane when space is available. This is not a reservation. Check its current bicycle rules before travelling.
If you have a tight timetable, plan for the bike not fitting: park at the stop, take a later departure or know a route you can cycle all the way. Our bike and train guide covers the planning questions.
Sort out parking early
Ask your accommodation where bikes may be parked and whether a locked room is available. Locate parking at your teaching building too. Keep entrances clear and follow local signs. An empty wall is not automatically a parking space.
Use the lock even for a short stop. If you want to secure the frame to a fixed object, investigate an additional lock. A Ring Ring bike comes with a frame lock.
